To unsubscribe an individual from a Course mail list as the administrator,
simply send mail with the unsubscribe command to the administrative
address:
majordomo@coursemail.umd.edu
with no subject, and the unsubscribe command in the body:
approve password unsubscribe list_name email_address
where password is the administrative password for
the list (your new 9-digit University ID number (U_ID) by default; NOT
your old UMID/SSN or Directory ID), list_name is the name
of the list from which you want to unsubscribe the individual, and
email_address is the mail under which they're currently subscribed.
For example:
approve 123456789 unsubscribe math999-0101-fall07 joeuser@umd.edu
You should receive a confirmation e-mail from
majordomo@coursemail.umd.edu which contains a body similar to this:
>>>> approve password unsubscribe list_name email_address
Succeeded.
If the command was unsuccessful, the body of the return e-mail will give some
explanation as to why this happened. If you don't understand the error
message(s), please contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT)
